It’s time to acknowledge that coffee deserves a new reputation. The results of a recent study presented at the European Society of Cardiology Congress found that higher coffee consumption is associated with a lower risk of early death. According to the study, “participants who consumed at least four cups of coffee per day had a 64 percent lower risk of all-cause mortality than those who never or almost never consumed coffee.”
Yes, that means it is okay to enjoy an extra mug of your favorite morning brew (but don’t forget to check with your doctor to ensure that the extra caffeine is okay for you). While drinking an extra cup or two of coffee is a great way to improve life expectancy, there are additional ways to reduce the risk of an early death.
Improving the quality of one’s diet over time is another way to reduce the risk of a premature death. Dietary changes don’t have to big either. Small, modest changes can have a positive impact especially if they are maintained over time. Scientists found that replacing unhealthy choices with whole grains, fruits, vegetables and fish created the biggest improvement in one’s overall diet quality. For example, eating 10 portions of fruits and vegetables per day was tied to a 31 percent reduction in premature death.
Constantly being on the go can make it challenging for Las Vegas employees to consume enough fruits and vegetables, healthy fats, water, and great tasting coffee to have the desired impact. An easy way to remove the hurdles between your employees and the healthy snacks and beverages they need is to offer healthy snacks and beverages including coffee service in a bright, welcoming office breakroom. Whether your office breakroom includes healthy vending machines, a micro-market, or free vend, healthy options are always available.
An office breakroom with healthy snack and beverage choices including coffee not only helps to improve Las Vegas employees’ diet quality, but it also has a positive impact on employee morale and productivity. A hydrated, satiated, and partially caffeinated employee is likely to be more creative, focused, alert, and have a better memory—all positive characteristics of a productive employee.
As we move into 2018, it is time to reassess the physical space we call the breakroom. Is your breakroom a warm, inviting space that encourages creativity and interactions among colleagues? Is it a spot to grab a healthy bite to eat, a refreshing cool beverage, or a cafe-style coffee? Whether your current space needs a complete update or just a few new healthy vending machine snacks, First Class Coffee Service can help. For more information, call us at 702-597-9999.
